The latest accessory trend in Dubai is a temporary tattoo made of real gold. These tattoos made of 24-carat gold are ideal body adornment for weddings and other special occasions. The starting price is modest $50 and application is taking around 10 minutes.
"We have had a lot of interest so far because it's a new idea and a new product that's between jewelry, makeup and accessories and it's a lot easier to make the decision to get a gold tattoo than buy new jewelry," said Arnaud Flambeau, managing director of Flambeau Luxury Trading DMCC and Precious Skin, who brought the tattoos to Dubai. "More elaborate and larger designs can cost up to $5,500, and the idea really is just to have something that is very unique and new."
"The tattoo is like a second skin and very comfortable to wear. They are ideal for weddings, parties or special occasions.", said Flambeau.
The idea came from Japanese designer Nobuhiko Akastuka in 2006, and until now the tattoos have not been available in another market.
